Anyone possessing a degree from an accredited American college or university and individuals who have been faculty members at an accredited college or university in the United States are eligible for membership. Certain other types of long-term professional academic training at a U.S. educational institution such as Fulbright or Humphrey Fellowships also are eligible for membership.

Membership fee per year is Taka 1,000/-, which may be paid via check made in favor of "American Alumni Association" or in cash at the premises of the American Alumni Association (House no-145, Road no-13B, Block-E, Banani, Dhaka-1213). AAA also has a Life Membership Option which may be attained by paying a one time fee of Tk. 5,000/-.
